Quality of Life in Simsbury
With all the technological advances in the last several decades, our lives have become bigger, faster and more complicated. Simsbury is the antidote to the stresses of today’s lifestyles. Harkening back to an old New England town, it is focused on two important elements: community and nature.
Nowhere do those two elements come together more beautifully than on the Drake Hill Flower Bridge, where residents claim flower boxes spanning across the river, turning a simple structure into a blooming wonder. Throughout the seasons, life centers around the rolling hills and the Farmington River as people stroll, run, bike and share a blanket to see world-class performances at the Simsbury Meadows Arts Center.
The town itself offers so many charming places for people to gather and create community; around a well-appointed table at Millwright’s Restaurant & 1680 Tavern where the James Beard Award-winning chef is just another neighbor, the bar at 570 Asian Fusion where friends greet each other after work …or in the aisles of Fitzgerald’s Foods where the organic produce may very well have been grown less than a mile away. Locally owned businesses like these continue to crop up in Simsbury, attracting passionate people who have chosen not just a beautiful place, but an inspired and purposeful way of life.
A Superb Place to Raise a Family
US News and World Report applauds award-winning Simsbury Public School’s commitment to excellence; ranking Simsbury High School 6th among other Connecticut public schools. Simsbury schools are nationally acclaimed and receive high marks, year after year. In Money Magazine’s article ‘Best Places to Live 2015’, the magazine mentioned Simsbury’s “premier public schools” as the main draw to the town. According to the magazine, Simsbury students scored above average in every test category and over 93 percent of graduates pursue higher education.
Private schools in Simsbury and West Simsbury are renowned and award-winning in their own right. Ethel Walker for girls, co-ed Westminster School, and for younger students The Master’s School, all give those seeking private education a myriad of stellar choices within a mile or two of Simsbury proper. Not to mention notable private schools such as Avon Old Farms and Miss Porter’s just a few towns over. The Farmington Valley is a vibrant place to raise a family.
