Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center  |  22 Iron Horse Blvd, Simsbury, CT 06070

Try Simsbury, CT at a different pace!
The third annual “Try Simsbury” Meadow & Mountain Adventure Triathlon will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 11:00am.

Originally conceived of by town volunteers in an effort to encourage athletic tourism, persuading folks to “Try” Simsbury, the triathlon highlights Simsbury’s wonderful outdoor assets, including numerous hiking trails, the wild and scenic Farmington River, and terrific bike paths and trails.

New this year: The race will start and finish at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center.
This year’s triathlon begins with the Melissa Milan Memorial Run, sponsored by Fleet Feet. The run will begin with a lap around the soccer fields and after waving to family & friends, you will head off for a 5K trail through Simsbury Meadows. Enjoy your run on the lost but not forgotten and now re-established “River Walk” trail system.

The Bicycle Cellar is sponsoring the bike section, which is a 2-loop ride (spectator friendly and approximately 12 miles) on Simsbury’s scenic country roads paralleling the Farmington River.

The paddle, sponsored by Collinsville Canoe & Kayak, will begin at its new launch site just under Simsbury’s Landmark Flower Bridge. A 2-mile paddle will take you up river first. After the turnaround, enjoy the down-river paddle back under the Flower Bridge to the take out point, after which you will finish with a strong run back to the Performing Arts Center Finish.

Racers can run as individuals or on teams, including relay teams (male, female, co-ed), family teams, adaptive athlete teams or in the Corporate Challenge. Twenty-six contestants will win prizes as first place finishers in their categories.
The race is organized by the Town of Simsbury and Sharon McHale. Thanks to platinum sponsor Simsbury Bank. The proceeds of the triathlon will benefit the “River Walk” Trail and the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.

Individuals: on-line: $65 up to 12/31; $70 up to 3/1; $75 up to race day, 5/22
Teams: on-line: $100 up to 12/31; $105 up to 3/1; $120 up to race day, 5/22

Race organizers encourage participants to bring family and friends. Their race packet will be filled with discounts and deals from local businesses, where they can enjoy themselves and grab a bite to eat.
